Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) promotes preventive medicine and good nutrition, conducts clinical research and encourages high research standards. PCRM’s team of physicians, nurses and dietitians help advance disease prevention and survival through nutrition education and research. Saladmaster’s nutritional cooking system is used in PCRM’s Food for Life nutrition and cooking classes to teach how certain foods and nutrients work together to discourage disease, along with cooking demonstrations of healthy and delicious recipes that can be recreated easily at home. Saladmaster partners with PCRM by hosting Food for Life classes to educate the public on the healing power of food and how to put good dietary practices into action. Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation

About half of the Philippines’ 88 million people live in rural areas. Poverty is most severe and widespread in these areas. Almost 80 percent of the country’s poor people live there. Agriculture is the primary and often only source of income. Most depend on subsistence farming and fishing for their livelihoods.

Saladmaster worked through Gawad Kalinga, an organization that aims to end poverty in the Philippines, to build a village in Putotan, Iloilo. We provided quality housing and the necessary infrastructure to support the people there. Over 64 families have been given homes. More homes are been built with a goal of 100 shelters in the village. There is no better reflection of Saladmaster’s tagline, We Change Life, than the collective efforts of our team members with this initiative. “Gawad Kalinga” translated means “to give care.”
